Book Review - Turning the Tide - An estuary toolkit for New Zealand communities

Working with the community of the Waikouiti estuary north of Dunedin over a number of years, Gretchen Robertson and Monica Peters (both with NZ Landcare Trust in Otago) trialled a draft kit of activities and methods that have led to the publication of Turning the Tide - An estuary toolkit for New Zealand communities. This practical and comprehensive guide is designed to be of value to any group who want to get involved in estuary monitoring.

Albany Junior High School

Albany Junior High School has an enthusiastic student-driven environment group that is making a big difference. The group consists of over 80 students willing to learn about sustainable action and wanting to enhance the environment.

Huntly College

Huntly College recently studied the water quality of three lakes in their region. This project is a good example of how EMAP can be incorporated into the CREST Award programme.

Tauhara Primary School

Tauhara Primary School in Taupo have been working with TREET for a water learning unit integrating Enviroschools, a Community Based Language Initiative from Hei Ara Kokiri (the Education Arm of the Tuwharetoa Trust Board), and the National Trout Centre's Stormwater Programme. This learning unit is supported by EMAP.
